Language Instructors for – Military Focused Training Programs (Online) – Arabic (Modern Standard, Levantine, and Egyptian)

Eton Institute is currently seeking experienced freelance language instructors for a long-term online language training project.

We are recruiting instructors for the following languages and dialects:

Project Overview

Instruction will be delivered at ILR Level 3 (Higher Intermediate to Advanced) and will incorporate discussions and activities related to military policy and strategic contexts.

Please note that instructors are not expected to develop curriculum or course materials. Should the project be awarded, all curriculum, lesson plans, instructional materials, and learning objectives will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging, student-centred online language training sessions.
• Facilitate discussions related to military policy, strategic topics, culture, and current affairs within the target language.
• Encourage learner participation through discussion, reflection activities, and structured speaking tasks.
• Adapt teaching approaches to meet learner needs while following the provided curriculum and lesson plans.
• Monitor learner progress and provide feedback as required.
• Effectively utilize online learning platforms and virtual classroom technology.

Requirements

• Native or near-native proficiency in the target language and dialect.
• Language proficiency equivalent to ILR Advanced Professional Proficiency or ACTFL Superior level in speaking and writing.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant culture, customs, and regional context associated with the language being taught.
• Previous experience teaching adult learners in an online environment in a military background
• Ability to facilitate advanced-level discussions and interactive language learning activities.
• Strong online classroom management and learner engagement skills.

Educational and Professional Qualifications

Applicants must meet one of the following criteria:

• Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Language Instruction or a related field such as History, Political Science, International Relations, Anthropology, Archaeology, Cultural Geography, or a related social science discipline; OR

• Possess a minimum of five years of substantial embedded experience within the target culture and language environment; OR

• Hold an advanced degree (Master’s or Doctorate) in one of the qualifying fields listed above.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience teaching government, military, diplomatic, defence, international relations, or other specialized language programs.
• Familiarity with ILR and/or ACTFL proficiency frameworks.
• Experience teaching advanced-level learners.
• Experience using online learning management systems and virtual learning platforms.
